November is National Adoption Month, a time to celebrate families that have been created through adoption and raise awareness of the 122,000 children in foster care waiting for families.
This year’s theme is “Engage Youth: Listen and Learn” and highlights the need for families and permanent connections for teens, who are less likely to be adopted and more likely to age out of foster care without strong or stable family support.
On the National Adoption Month website, you’ll find:
- Stories and videos featuring young people talking about being adopted
- Resources to help youth share their stories and make recommendations about policies and practices
- Communications tools to help you spread the word about adoption from foster care
