A podcast and guide for families to help navigate adoption

An adult listens to a podcast from their phone.

You deserve to feel supported and informed as you grow your family, and our recently released Navigating Adoption podcast from AdoptUSKids is designed to help you confidently traverse your unique adoption journey.

Hosted by April Dinwoodie, a transracial adoptee and author, this series of six 30-minute episodes provides both expert insights and personal stories relevant to the challenges and rewards associated with foster care and adoption.

Podcast episodes will address:

  • Adoption from foster care
  • How family connections are key, especially for teens
  • Building a strong support system for your family
  • Navigating relationships with birth families and kinship ties
  • Understanding trauma and its long-term effects

You can deepen your understanding of these issues by interacting with the podcast’s accompanying discussion guide (556 KB PDF), which provides resources for each episode, including conversation starters, reflection questions, and facilitator notes. Whether you’re considering adoption or have already started your journey, this podcast and guide is designed to support you as you learn, grow, and find new ways to connect as a family.

Ask your family’s case worker if this podcast and discussion guide qualifies in your state as a continuing education credit.
